Every LLC files its annual report by November 15 and every domestic corporation by August 1, whatever its formation date. Farming or ranching LLCs and corporations are a separate type with kinship, membership and income rules, and they file by April 15.
The public record of every North Dakota LLC and corporation belongs to the North Dakota Secretary of State, Business Services, whose search goes by FirstStop. The search on this page asks the North Dakota Secretary of State each time you run it.

| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Active | The registration is in force. |
| Inactive - Voluntary | The business ended its own registration, for example by filing a dissolution, termination or withdrawal. |
| Inactive - Involuntary | The Secretary of State ended the registration, usually because a past-due annual report was never filed. |
| Inactive - Expired | The registration reached the end of its term without renewal, such as a trade name or a name reservation that lapsed. |
| Inactive - Merged | The business merged into another entity and no longer exists separately. |
| Inactive - Consolidated | The business was combined with others into a new entity. |
| Inactive - Terminated by Order | The registration was ended by an order rather than by a filing from the business. |
| Good Standing | Shown in the separate Standing column: the business is current on its annual report and other requirements. |
| Not Good Standing | Shown in the separate Standing column: a requirement is overdue, most often the annual report; the business has one year to reinstate before it is involuntarily dissolved or terminated. |
