Reporting an error on a page
If a fee, a deadline, a form name or a rule on a guide or state page does not match the official source, tell us which page and what the source says now. Every figure links to the page it came from, so a link to the official page that shows the change is the most useful thing to include.
We check each report against the official source. When the page is wrong, we fix it and update its checked date. How we check our facts explains the rest.
A search result, and the record behind it
Open State Index does not keep business records. Each search asks the state's own records, and we keep the answer for at most 24 hours. There is no page about any business on this site to take down.
A change to the record itself, such as a new address, a different registered agent, a corrected name or closing the business, has to be filed with the state that keeps it. The state pages link to each state's official search, run by the office that accepts those filings. Once the state's record changes, results here follow within 24 hours.
Write to us if a result here does not match the state's own record, or if you would like a result we hold cleared before the 24 hours are up.
